Nope nope nope nope nope!

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

Ok. I am no huge fan of MSH but at least it's fun, weird, and toe-tapping.
On the other hand, Penny Lane; the older I get, the fewer redeeming features I hear in it. Apologies to the Stans, but the lyrics are saccharine, and the tune is pedestrian. I never understood why it's on so many Top 10 Beatles lists.
The best thing about it is that it's the b-side of Strawberry Fields.

I agree - the older I get the more annoying that horn solo becomes

By that point, there was no point in being polite.

Slightly unrelated, but I recently heard that McCartney wrote "When I'm sixty-four" when he was 14.

Time catches up with you; Paul turns 81 this month.

Oof!

Abbey Road is exactly one Maxwell's Silver Hammer from being a perfect album.

It's more of Paul's "granny music".
It's a chore to listen thru. Must have been worse to play.
It took the Beatles near a hundred takes to get thru it. As such, it was probably the final nail in the Beatles coffin, as Paul kept pushing the band to play this one.

And on top of all that, Paul insisted on this when he had "Come & And Get It" in his pocket and ready to roll. That is a fun sing-along! Next time you listen to Abbey Road , substitute "Come & Get It" for MSH and tell me how you like it.

Penny Lane is a lovely little pop song. I love it.
