Gurman: Apple May Announce Drop of 'Hey Siri' Trigger Phrase at WWDC

....Apple may announce a major change to Siri that would move away from the "Hey Siri" trigger phrase currently required to invoke the virtual assistant hands-free at next week's WWDC keynote, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

In a new tweet, Gurman reiterated that the change to the Siri trigger phrase may be among next week's announcements. In November, Gurman reported that Apple is working on a way for Siri to be able to understand and respond to commands without the need to use "Hey Siri" as a trigger-phrase. Instead, users will simply need to say "Siri."......

.......hey, hey.......Jude............?!

Similarly, I changed Amazon's Alexa to Echo - from three syllables to two.

The extra syllable in Alexa v Echo doesn't bother me.

The two words for Siri has never felt natural to me, and I very seldom ever say 'Hey' (LOL) in any context.

So addressing someone via 'Hey' with or without their name following is always a little off-putting.

Having Alexa in the room with Siri, I on occasion will say 'Siri..' and get nothing, of course.

Twice maybe, I've said 'Hey Alexa' but that's only because of the context of the situation.

Since HomePod Siri always wants ti be lead puppy, and isn't particularly helpful, I'll use the 'Phone's side button to talk to a somewhat smarter Siri.

My son had a girlfriend named Serenity. But we called her "Siri" for short.
