New gas grill buying advice; Weber or Napoleon?

The Weber from 2009 left behind from the previous owners served them well for 11 years and served us OK for 3 years but it's showing its age. I have Natural Gas on the deck.

Weber: I think Spirit is the low end models, I would probably go with Genesis (Summit is too expensive IMHO).

Napoleon: their Prestige series has lifetime warranty and seems in the same price range as Genesis. The Presite Pro would be comparable to Summit.

So, Weber Genesis (unclear about warrany?) or Napoleon Prestige (Lifetime bumper to bumper)?

Weber, tried and true. The Genesis line is the way to go. You may want to take stock of what is wrong with the old one, Weber parts are easy to get and even rebuilt it will be better than 95% of anything new. Don't overlook Marketplace or Craigslist, there can be very good grills on it at a 1/3 of the price of new ones especially if you are in a retirement area.

I've been dealing with Weber customer service last few weeks. I have the top of the line charcoal grill.

Customer service sucks balls now. Used to be people in Palatine who spoke English.

Now it's Rhikit in Bangladesh. They barely speak English--from a script!

I was a Weber guy for a long time. My last one was a top of the line Summit that I ended up rebuilding before my warranty ran out, but in the end it rusted out after about 11 years. Replacement parts were too expensive to justify, so I scrapped it. Bought a Big Green Egg after that, which I've been very happy with. Fast forward 6 years to today, and my wife has been bugging me to get a gas grill for ease of use. After reviewing my options I ended up buying a Napoleon Prestige Pro 500. Really like the look of the warranty considering my past experiences. I'm anxiously awaiting delivery next Friday.

Weber or Napoleon?

Yes.

Both are good IMO.
Had a Weber for 15 years, before the insides started to disintegrate.
Then we bought a Napoleon, mainly due to a store closing and they were $200 off.
I found it to be just as solidly built.

Also my current place has natural gas, but eventually when I move we may need to go propane. I looked and neither Weber nor Napoleon sell official conversion kits. That is disappointing.

Sometimes a nipple is just a nipple. Probably nothing to worry, or be officially disappointed about.

I converted my grill. There's no reason for an official conversion kit. I can provide details if needed.

I was going to recommend fixing the existing grill assuming the outer shell isn't rusted out. Grills are like most kitchen appliances - they all do a pretty damn good job. The more expensive ones are a bit nicer but they're certainly not a necessity.
