Canon inkjet printer gettin' jiggy...

old "i" series seems to still print photos OK, but totally @#$%& every fourth or fifth line, or so, of text... fresh ink carts (color & black), "deep cleaned" several times (5-6), and re-calibrated print heads, though test pattern print still has 2 horizontal white/ink-free stripes prominent in the black patterns, w/ the lower stripe the worse of the two. I'm guessing that this is what is causing the text to get hosed... any ideas on how to resurrect the old puppy??? I hate to get rid of it; we still have about a dozen each of the the color & black ink carts... thanks,

Buzz

Sometimes it is what it is...
and then there's times when it's really better.

if the head is removable, try to soak the head in Windex. STF, I posted a link a few days ago. I haven't done this myself yet, but other seem to get good results.

You might be able to resurrect the head by squirting windex into the pads and into the bottom head jets. I don't know if I would soak it under liquid because there's micro-circuitry just under the plastic shield surrounding the jets. Try then running the clean cycles again, If it still does not work then the head probably has a screwed up micro-circuit.

I had one of my i850's start doing this and never could get those lines to go away. I finally bought a new head and now it's like a new printer all over again.
Nowadays, it's not worth buying a new head unless you can find one on eBay for cheap.
