.......breaking news said that 'The Explorers Club' indicated on social media that 'signs of life' was detected at the site......no word on what that is.......

.....news posted.....banging was heard....

Titanic sub: data from search site gives ‘cause for hope’, says Explorers Club

....'Banging sounds' heard in search zone - US reports say

US media is reporting that search crews have heard banging sounds at 30-minute intervals.

Rolling Stone were first to report the news on Tuesday night, followed by CNN. Both cited internal government memos, and reported that after additional sonar devices were deployed four hours later, banging was still heard.

The Guardian has not been able to confirm the reports.

The memo does not clarify when on Tuesday the banging was heard, or for how long.

A later update, cited by CNN, sent that night described more sounds:

Additional acoustic feedback was heard and will assist in vectoring surface assets and also indicating continued hope of survivors......

..................banging......detected......................?!

Billionaires go missing on what can only be described as a costly entertainment jaunt and whole national navies mobilize, 600 refugees go missing off the Greek Isles - virtual media crickets.

foolish mountain climbers often on the hook for their rescue. Same with boaters. We have a climber in the family.

I have a SoCal boater friend who pays an annual fee to prepay for a tow service. Best money he ever spent. Goes out 12 times a year. Used twice in last two years.

Why don't they have some sort of Tether hooked up to a sub like this? I'm not being stupid just asking. Seems like some sort of safety line should be put in place.

Also asked in the first topic on this. A tether would be at least 3 miles long, would have a large amount of drag on the sub from currents, and may even increase the chances of being trapped on the bottom if it snagged or broke.

Hope the banging that they might have heard is not from the equipment that is listening. Of course once they find it, they have to figure out how to raise it.

NBC evening news has been covering the tragedy near Greece, though admittedly the time spent on that story is shorter than the time spent on THIS story.

Ouch... I actually know someone who knows someone involved with the tour but luckily they were not on the sub (Friend thought they were).

Anybody play video games here?

Could it be that the WIRELESS video game controller that moves the sub died and they have no way to charge it or no extra batteries on the sub (do they use AA batteries or what?).

The little controller to move it and make it go died and it just sank to the bottom - literally dead in the water?

Just wondering....

It seems like a pinger similar to those used in black boxes on planes would have been a good safety measure. There would have to be alterations to it of course, but still seems doable.

They are good for 30 days, so even if it ran continuously upon going in the water, it would give a rudimentary way to track the approximate location of the sub.

Supposedly there are ballast bags that will automatically release after 24h. The ties are made to dissolve in water after 24h and the sub should automatically resurface.

And I also read they can all move to one and that will cause the sub to tilt and release another ballast. Apparently they had multiple systems, this should not have happened.
