13 Years and still no weather app for iPad?

Why is the weather app not included on the iPad? They have a weather widget but if you click on it it takes you to the weather channel website which sucks. Is there some obscure patent allowing the app on iPhone but preventing it from being used on the iPad?!? Seriously, there has to be a reason. Surely the weather channel can’t pay them enough to be allowed a monopoly on the iPad like Google has for search.

Apple included a Weather app with iPadOS 16. The Yahoo weather app has been available for the iPad for ages.

It is what it is.

There are lots of weather apps for iPad. But the iOS weather app has, to the best of my knowledge, been conspicuously absent.

Go to the App Store, download Weather, update your knowledge. It’s been available for at least seven years.

My point is that the app is Part of iOS. It's a default part of the phone software. Why'd they leave it out of the iPadOS? Same for the Calculator?

Which app would that be? There are quite a few named "Weather", and if buried somewhere in there is an iOS app done by Apple is it not at all obvious. Almost all of the available apps for iPads include ads.

On the phone it's called 'Weather'. It's been part of iOS since the very beginning, or very close to it. There have been articles written about it, discussing the updates in iOS....This app has never been included on the iPad. Why?

Ever have a dream where something is obvious to you but no one else sees it? Everyone stares at you like you have a horn growing out of your head. This is so odd. Am I the only person who's questioned why iPad OS has left out Calculator, Weather, Stocks?

They sure do bury that if you look for it to download to an iPad. Does not show up in regular searches on the App Store from my iPad. Typing in that address in a Safari tab and I get a "Cannot connect" message.

As previously stated by others, Apple only includes the Weather widget in the iPad iOS install. Clicking on that opens up a page in Safari too Weather.com.

12 Years to get a weather app for iPad

A lot of people have called for a weather and calculator apps for the iPad, I among them.

But I've moved on.

Now I'm bugging Apple to put the Activity app on the iPad.

I've been asked for the exact same app, and not an iPadOS version cluttered with additional features.

The same app on a bigger screen should afford easier reading.

No idea why Apple waited so long to make a weather app for the iPad.

MKBHD asked Craig about it in an interview, and got a song and dance.

I don't remember when that was, but we eventually got Weather in iOS 16, as mentioned.

I'm also disappointed that so many, if not all apps now, have a different version for iOS and iPadOS.

I really liked using some 'Phone apps on the iPad and blowing them up to fill the screen.

Very easy reading, alas no mas (for some time, actually).

Apple wastes so much real estate throwing in extra 'features' that the app still remains hard to read, for me, anyway.

Yes, one can enlarge the text, but that usually plays hob with the rest of the app.

So only available since iOS 16 was released for the iPad last October. Not available before that on iPads. In my case it will not be available to me until I buy a new one. Mine is an iPad Air 2, latest supported version of iOS is 15.7.7.

Apparently my geriatric iPad is now relegated to the Old Folks Home of tech.
