My favorite cookie that Nabisco makes. They are no more. I've been everywhere looking for the. Nobody has them. They taste more like Oreos than Oreos.

Because you're not buying enough.*

*Actually, most likely that the general public is not buying enough to cost-justify production, when the same facilities could be more profitably used to produce a better selling product.

In 2008 someone internal ! Honda did a cost analysis on the entire MC division vs allocating the entire Torrance budget and space and etc to brakes for Civics. Guess what won?

What's left of the mc div is now basically a series of rooms in GA.

Yes tragic. 100 year old recipe.

My family's favorite cheesecake has a chocolate crust made from those wafers. Also used for icebox cake.

You can sub Oreo Thins or Goya Chocolate Maria cookies.

Have not tried either myself but word on the street is they are pretty good. I feel like Trader Joe's should have some cookie to match this.

Nabisco has destroyed most of it's cookie lines. Taking Oreos as a specific reference. The cookies are smaller in diameter and thinner. The "creme" filling is pathetic. In the last package we bought, the filling only covers about 50% of the cookie, and was applied in a layer that was so thin it really wasn't even there.

The weird thing is that just about every off brand sandwich style cookie is now far superior to Oreos themselves.

I wonder how the various baking competition shows with pantries full of ingredients will deal with not having the basic chocolate wafer everyone makes crusts from. My wife always has the Food Network on, and she and the daughters love to bake together.

Famous Chocolate Wafers... are people!

Actually, looking at the ingredients, it sounds like thin brownies without eggs.

Never seen them before either. I’ll have to hit a few grocery stores tomorrow looking for them, so I can claim tasting them before they disappear.

my daughter works near a Trader Joes. I'll have her see if they have a similar cookie. We make a decent cheesecake in our InstaPot. Very creamy. Everyone has different expectations for cheesecake. Our instapot ones work for us. Choc crust with a tart raspberry jam/puree is a great combo on family dinner nights.

I've never seen those cookiies before either, but they'e wouldn't be very high on my shopping list.

I've noticed for several months that packages of the Lemon flavor Oreos are six cookies shy in that packaging.

There are three rows in the plastic tray in a package of those cookies, and probably other Oreo options as well.

The cookies in the trays stop short of the end of the tray by two each.

This was not the case months ago.

I had to reach in and dig them out and couldn't fill an empty Kirkland chocolate covered raisin jar, and was forced into eating five or six cookies that didn't fit.

Now I can.

I ought to call 7 on Your Side and tell them of this wide spread fraud.

TBT my main cookie addiction (beside my wife's homemade chocolate chip) are the Trader Joe's Maple Sandwich cookies...and the Gingerbread People, when in season.

While both of those have gone under shrinkflation with fewer cookies per package, the cookies themselves are still the same.

National Biscuit Company is owned by Mondelez International, a rather nasty corporation implicated in child slavery, illegal deforestation, price fixing, and hostile takeovers.

On May 25, 2023, Ukraine's National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) declared Mondelez International an international sponsor of war.[73] This has led to boycotts from consumers and companies in the Nordic countries[74][75] as well as from the football associations of Denmark,[76] Norway[77] and Sweden.[78] Also, Mondelez employees in Eastern Europe have protested.. Mondelez International is the former snack food division of Kraft Foods, they structured a split so that Kraft Food Group was spun off as a "new" publicly traded company. Partly this was the fallout of the poor result of Kraft's acquisition of Cadbury.

The slow destruction of Nabisco products dates back to 1985 when it went from a privately held company to being owned by R J Reynolds. Tobacco seller looking to put its wealth into other businesses as sales fell win the US.

My wife looked high and low for them when she made a cheesecake a month ago. Never found them. Wound up using generic Oreos and scraping the filling out of them. Worked fine, just a little more work.

Good Humor Toasted Almond popsicle was discontinued last year. Although I haven't had one in +5 years, the moment I found out it was discontinued, I was outraged!!! How could they do that?! It was my favorite!

I haven't tried them yet but Oreo Thins are supposed to be good for baking. They only have a tiny bit of filling so it doesn't have to be removed.

those might be our substitute them. You could probably cut back on the butter component, and the filling will bind it together. I haven't heard from my daughter about Trader Joe's options. We do like their Jo Jos. "oreos"

Trader Joe's cat cookies have a similar taste profile to the wafer part of Oreos. But they are a bit more dense.
