Interesting Amazon behavior

I'm ordering an external hard drive, I am ordering a housing and drive separate so I know what drive is in the case, in this case I wanted a Seagate Iron Wolf Pro drive. I put a couple of cases and drive in my shopping cart as I reviewed my decision. I left the cart sitting over night.
The ext day I see a notice that the drive I selected is offered at a lower price, in this case a 12TB IW Pro was $216 and now offered at $196 from another retailer, I add that one to my cart, head out to dinner before zI get a chance to check out. Later I notice the expected delivery date for the drive at the lower price is 10 days, oh, too long so I do a search for Seagate Iron Wolf drives and the top sponsored link is a 16TB drive for $179, delivered tomorrow, bigger and cheaper.

How long to I keep playing this game? I ordered it.

Jokes on them, you would have paid more if they'd just stopped messing around.

I found your drive on Amazon also for $179. The product I found says (Renewed).

Did you order a new or renewed product? I've had that happen to me before as I missed the Renewed tacked onto the end of the description.

Not trying to stir anything up, just wondering.

BEWARE: Amazon mixes "Renewed" and "New" results. Even when you specify "New" with the "New" checkbox in the search parameters. They'll stick renewed drives in the "sponsored," "recommended," and "explore" sections at the top and bottom of the search results.

I usually double-check by searching for the words "renewed" and "new" on the product page.

(Not generally a good idea to buy a used hard drive.)

Yup, it's renewed by Seagate. I did not notice that, just been really busy lately. Tasked with migrating from a 2012 Mini with 2TB internal to a Mac Studio M1Max with only 512GB internal so means moving around storage.

I've used plenty of Seagate refurbished drives over the years, never had an issue. I've had at least 4 refurbished NL-35 drives and they went years with no issues, hopefully this goes the same.

I will use the 16 TB drive as a back up drive. I have an 8TB drive with video, stills and music, about 6TB full. I'll likely add another large drive in the near future.

using CCC for backups
