Latest information. Since I got pictures of her on our Out West road trip in '18, I check up on her and I'm happy to say she's still flying around Grand Canyon:



I last checked a year ago and she has added another Biological Offspring. The 2022 record:



She was named Juanita after the number tags on her wings-J plus 1 plus "nita" as suggested by a forum member who's name escapes me at the moment, sorry!

They are hideous animals. But server their purpose in the web of life and I'm glad there are people tracking and working to help their populations. And that's a lot of siblings considering she only has 4 offspring! Mom/Dad must be rock stars.

I would like to look up bio for Condors 1 and 43 but can't find a way.

It's been a long time since I've seen a California condor up close. Back maybe 20 years ago, a group of us got to visit the condor breeding area at the Los Angles Zoo. They are definitely large. I'm glad to see that there is a population hanging around the Grand Canyon. On a trip to the south rim, I saw a large bird that I think was a condor, and it was near to the hotel/tourist center.

By the way, brown pelicans are also very large animals. Protecting and rebuilding the Southern California population was also a major effort, because DDT that was contaminating local ocean waters was messing up their egg shells. The story about how the eggs were protected is interesting and can be found online.

I got nailed by a seagull back when I had hair. That and a bar of Ivory soap really cleaned my hair and made it super soft or so said my sweety.
