I've seen those many times race at the Monterey Historic Races, Laguna Seca. They could hang with the 289 cobras, somehow. I don't think they got lapped by the 427's either. One of the greatest Alfas. May have been the TZ1 I saw, but pretty similar (same engine, I think).

It's car week in Monterey now, leading up to the Concours next week. Got caught in the traffic for it the last couple of days, after seeing lots of car carriers on the road (US 101-N) up to the area from the L.A. area on Thursday. And, hey, I watched many a race a Laguna Seca back in the 1960's, when those were just the cars that raced.... nothing Historic about them then...... shoulda known that 50-60 years later they'd make a comeback.

The "sports cars" were cool, then Bruce McLaren pretty much took over the place in 1967(?) and beyond for a few years. The faster cars were pretty awesome w/ the way the Can-Am cars hugged the track; but for pure watchability fun, the motorcycle races were impossible to beat. Serious heart rate upticks there.

Still thinking that little Alfa woulda benefited w/ a more potent end-to-end drivetrain.
