#vanlife… Mrs cbelt3 and I go RV’ing

Picked up a new “class B” RV…basically a high top delivery van with basic bed/bath/galley kitchen setup. Solar panels, generator, heat and AC. I can work from
It (Cell network setup is needed), so we can take the show on the road. Her cat will accompany us, but my dog is just too poorly to go on trips. (Weak back legs)

We shopped around for the last few years, and this one fits us. Steel body and roof, massive visibility in front even for Mrs Cbelt3’s abbreviated stature. Lane keeping and emergency braking, awesome backup and 360 degree cameras when moving slowly (like docking this Ship of the Road). And good mileage …. Clocked 19mpg highway on a recent shakedown drive.

The main reason ? Mrs. Cbelt3 cannot sit in a car for more than an hour without having to move around and lie down. Hecking heck to Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid arthritis…. A

I look forward to some epic voyages to see what can be seen. A bike rack and a pair of e-bikes are on the next purchase list…

Awesome for you and the missus. We bought a Class B, but on the RAM Promaster platform, five years ago. Sounds like a similar setup though. It's a perfect size and at 20' it fits in a regular parking space.

My preference is to travel a short distance and stay there for a while. Mrs. Markintosh has more wanderlust. We have averaged about 4000 miles and 30 nights each season.

During the summer fire season, ours sits parked nose out and mostly ready to go as our bug out vehicle.

Good for you, it sounds like a wonderful time.

You better give us photos, so we can all live vicariously through you.

Was this purchased new?
I was hoping that many gently used ones would pop up from the pandemic 'staycation'. RV sales spiked big time, wondering if many said, nope not for me after all and sell 2 year old RV's.

e-bikes are a game changer as we age but still want to be mobile on vacations. I should really look into them for when we go camping in parks.

Jealous! I’m kinda narrowing it down to the Transit or Ram platform. Transit’s are a little wider so more options for a bed, me being vertically challenged anyhow. Sorta avoiding diesels. Keeping my peepers peeled for a low mileage used rig. My goal is to drive across Canada and spend some time on the Eastern Seaboard.

Sorta avoiding diesels.

Exactly. Plus Mercedes service is not cheap. This is why we chose a Roadtrek on the RAM Promaster platform. RV's on the Transit platform did not exist when we bought.

Pro master 3500 van . 2023 model. Big enough without being too big. The Mercedes scares me… too costly and too many recalls. The diesel engine emissions control are fussy and annoying. I understand gasoline engines. Diesels scare me… I recall push starting a diesel VW rabbit back in the late 70’s when the battery died… sheesh…

And I aplaud you for an e-bike over minibikes/mopeds or any other tiny rattling IC conveyance that just ruins campgrounds for everyone but the users.

I can't tell you the number of ruined mornings when some asshat fires up a generator to make coffee at 6am. Boat/RV/trailer, tent camper with a suitcase gennie. doesn't matter.

lol.

I installed an inverter on my boat for the sole reason that I could have a cup of coffee in the early AM w/o starting up the gennie.

Now I can have the most expensive cuppa in the morning!

Mostly kidding, though. It helps to run fans at night to keep things cool as well.
