Can make waffles and pancakes at home pretty easily but I'm not an FT preparer. I love all 3 so when dining out for breakfast, it's always French Toast.

For me, pancakes win hands down. When I have my pancake mojo working, my 'cakes are so fluffy they nearly float off the plate!

If I'm willing to deal with the cleanup, I make a great savory waffle with garlic and chicken-broth. (Before you go nuts, think about how chicken and waffles is a hit throughout the South.)

This poll needs an "All of the above" category. I make decent pancakes and waffles but have never been able to make french toast very well. Consequently, when we eat breakfast out I usually order french toast.

I dislike Belgian waffles. I like the little squares like Waffle House has. I voted pancakes to be safe.

My wife loves pancakes, then waffles, then tolerates French Toast.

As she almost always can get the former two at the same place I order the latter, that's what we eat.

I'm the only one who can actually MAKE French toast in my household.

I love french toast when properly done, but french toast in a restaurant is often a soggy bland mess made with sandwich bread so I never order any. I suspect that the poor renditions found in most restaurants is why it didn't get more votes. It's got to be homemade using day or two old challah or very firm high quality white bread to be any good. The texture has to be crispy and buttery on the outside and soft on the inside.

My second would be waffles (again, gotta be crispy on the outside) and then third pancakes.

I like both pancakes and waffles, but they're tied in second place, practically also rans, compared to French toast.

But they all have to have REAL maple syrup, not the gummy stuff in way too many cute grocery store bottles. We have a maple farm here in southern Indiana; their festival in Feb/Mar is a great way to stock up with the good stuff.

Belgian waffles from Belgium are something that every person should try before they jettison this mortal coil. The first time I tasted them in Brussels I stopped mid stride in the street and wondered where the rest of the civilized world had gone so very, very wrong.

And for French toast, a touch of vanilla in the mix, real or not, I'm good.

A goodly amount of butter, especially since I only by Kerrygold now), occasionally maple syrup (Safeway signature is all the shock and awe pricing I'll tolerate), and occasionally a light dusting of cinnamon.

I should have added challah bread french toast as well as the other 2.

Love Belgian liege waffles. Yeasted tasty bits with pearl sugar.
There's a place in Manhattan that does a pretty good job.
Wafels & Dinges. They have a number of outposts, if you ever looking for an over the top NY experience. Be sure you have found a nearby place to nap after consumption.

I have seen great praise for Brioche French Toast. Lots of recipes on line.

French toast, but savory only (adding sweet condiments on top is fine). Never understood American obsession with sugar in "breads" and buns (main reason I avoid hamburgers). Panettone I love, but not as French toast.

Pancakes if they’re my own pumpkin pancake recipe.
