Looks like it will drop to a tropical storm before even getting to the US bringing heavy rains and that's about it. Forecast has upper-level winds in the 50mph range with usuals drops to half that at ground level. It is also moving fairly fast.

So expect flooding in low level areas but no wind or surge problems. This one would not have me putting the window covers up and most businesses would stay open. Don't let the SoCal media hype scare you.

I thought it was supposed to be much more.
I know that’s a lot, depending on how quickly it falls, but I was expecting a higher forecast.

The ground surfaces in SoCal have very little ability to absorb excess rainfall. That results in a lot of really dangerous high speed flash flooding in mountain and desert areas, while cemented in cities already flood at the hint of rain.

Yeah, with no recent rain there will be flash floods in some places with only 1/2" precipitation in an hour. Much more of a problem with hard rain, then if it was 5" over a week.

Not to be a doomsdayer, but events in the last few weeks—and few years—suggest it might be a good idea to err on the side of caution.

Good article about the last time CA was hit by a hurricane in 1939 - there was LOTS of damage and 50 something people were killed.
