great record.
the 2 versions I have are dig sourced, don't have a vinyl.
One is a '95 collection and the other a 2015 remaster.
The drums & acoustic guitar are a bit more present, that could be done in mid/side re-mastering.
I'd think it was recorded on 8 track in '67 coz the prototype of the 16 track hit Mirasound NYC in '66 or '67 and not in mass production, I think, till the early 70s.
If remixed, the remix would have been from an 8 track, perhaps a 4 track.
Though Elektra studio was pretty advanced of the day.
They had, I believe, the 1st of very few British Sound Techniques consoles.
But the LP, I believe, was mostly recorded at Sunset Sound, also in possession of a ST console around the same time.
Back then, perhaps:
1- drums
2- bass
3- A.G.
4- brass
5/6- strings
7- bax
8- lead vocal
So there would have been the ability (if 8 track sourced and still in existence, see the Universal fire 2008) to move the lead vocal, if my guess of the tracking is correct.
It's the 1st cut on the LP, so it wouldn't have suffered from squeezed grooves at the end of an LP.
Which vinyl version do you have? There are many. '68, '01, '03, '12, '15, '16, including a Mobile Fidelity "version".
