So I saw here, a few days ago, that the unlimited music plan was increasing from $9 to $10 a month or even less if you pay for a whole year at a time. I though "That's less than what I'm paying now..."

So I find my subscription in my Apple account. Sure enough, I'm paying $14.99 a month through my apple subscription. Not sure how that got so elevated. So I cancel it. The prepaid month will be up on September 15th. No it is telling me that the price through apple is 11.99 a month. No chance for a year's subscription.

I then go to Amazon and try to find their prime member deal. For the life of me, I cannot find pricing or a way to buy it through Amazon. I get to the music page, and then it directs me to the web music player page without any chance to buy the unlimited. No prices shown anywhere. Very frustrating! No way to upgrade to family plan if I wanted. Double frustrating.

How is it done? Do I need to wait for my subscription to completely lapse before I can see pricing? Anyone with any experience with this? Links that I can follow? I really want them to take my money, but I can't figure out how to do it. And I don't want to pay the $12 a month, either through apple.

OK. So I finally figured it out. Typical bait and switch deal-ish. Those prices are for NEW subscriptions only. Once they got ya, they increase the price of admission and you can't get it lower. I wish the news stories would include this in their reporting. Typical, but pretty lousy way of conducting business.

I still have not found way to subscribe for the whole year. I think their schtick is that you can cancel any time without penalty.

So there you go. Capitalism at it's best.

You could try contacting support and ask about it. It would be interesting to hear what they'd have to say.
