If you use your PRIME credit card at WF do you get 5% or is that just for online purchases?

Yes, you get the same 5% in rewards that you do on Amazon purchases.

For some reason, it seems slow to add up though. Whole Foods is just an occasional trip for us for certain things; but when I've checked, browsing the rewards totals leaves me incredulous that we've spent that little there. I need to check may statement history.

I don’t plan on spending much. Just what I can’t find at Safeway.

It would take about a 30-40% discount before I'd shop there or Publix.

Publix in Orlando seems reasonably priced.

There are some things that are actually decent deals, such as their fresh shrimp and seafood from the fish counter. The prices are relatively equal but the quality is better. Now, if you don't know prices, you will probably pay too much on certain items.

Yup, that's where we shop (although in Longwood now, not Orlando). Their BOGO deals are great. Wish we had Wegmans here, but until then, it's Publix for us.

I've got a local Wegmans and it's also gone downhill since opening. They do have good deals on a few things (milk, flour, hummus) but some are the same price as WF. And their meat and fish are nowhere near the quality of WF.

LOL...we used to think Whole Foods was expensive...but in Tahoe, Safeway and SaveMart are possibly more expensive.

That said, over time, and with only two of us, we buy less food overall. So it seems lately that we are willing to spend a bit more and make some healthier choices. Also, it's just a short bike ride to the Raley's O.N.E. market, which is basically a clone of Whole Foods.

Samintx,

Yups. You get the discount. Reality is I should use my Amex Blue Cash Prefered at Whole Foods since I get 6% cash back on groceries with it. However, since Amazon owns Whole Foods and groceries are purchased using Amazon's web site, it's easier just to leave well enough alone and use the Amazon VISA instead.

In looking at pricing, Whole Foods is more expensive for some things, less expensive than others and similarly priced for the majority. The differences aren't enough for me to say Whole Foods is too expensive or a rip off. It just isn't the case.

Many of the goods sold at Whole Foods _are_ higher quality. Lots is the same stuff you buy everywhere else. Same exact item. Same quality because it doesn't differ from store to store. A key difference is Whole Foods tends to have brands that are not found in many normal grocery stores and/or has, in theory, more brands that have more healthful versions of commonly found products. In theory.

Robert
