‘ Generac Power Systems announced it's recalling around 64,000 portable generators that can malfunction and injure users. At least three severe burn injuries have been reported.

"The recalled generators' fuel tank can fail to vent adequately from the rollover valve, causing the gas tank to build up excess pressure and expel fuel when opened, posing fire and burn hazards," the company said in a press release.

The recall includes portable generator types GP15000E and GP17500E with various model numbers that can be found on Generac's website. Both the unit type and model number are printed on the generator. ‘

Wife wants to get a Generac whole-house generator. I think it's pointless because in 30 years living here, we've only lost power for a total of about 10 days over 5 hurricanes. Our portable generator is sufficient.

I'd like to have one. The longest we've been without is 3 days during a bad ice storm. We had to almost make our elderly neighbor stay with us, she's been gone from here for a while now. We have a wood burning insert and it never got below 57 degrees on the other end of the house. Typically it's never more than 4-8 hours.

Last Christmas the lines were overloaded and burned one leg of the main line in two on my sons property. It fed the area further down the road but they cut us off to fix it. Neighbor down that way calls and sounds mad because she had a turkey in the oven. We tried to explain that just because it was on our sons property doesn't mean it was our fault, hell it was people like her for overloading the lines in 10-15 degree weather LOL.

From what I’ve read, running your generator off propane is preferable because there’s no chance of gas going bad from age.

yes. I have numerous customers who have plumbed their generators into their nat gas lines. My brother has a 250 lb propane tank hooked up to his.
