One of hotbrumors a couple of years ago was that the Applecwatch would get built in blood sugar measurement (no dongle or skin patch needed). I haven’t seen any more of these rumors lately. Nor has it shown up on the latest watches. Anyone know if it still seems to be in offing? Not that Apple would do an
Elon Musk stint and announce a feature three years down the road.
Blood glucose measurement without blood is a tough project. “Buzz” to get funding is common. CGM sensors are getting smaller and smaller, and there is supposedly an injectable version. But from outside the body ? That’s … tough.
Correct. As a diabetic, I wouldn't want Apple to offer this feature until it can prove the tests are as accurate as good as or the better than the top glucose meters. I'm actually leery of many of the readily available off-the-shelf meters since all too many of them were tested and had accuracy issues.
Based on what I have been told by people who are actually working on developing this technology, it is not even close for prime time. Despite all the ads I see on FB for cheap smartwatches that already claim to do this.
