Shipper called saying the car will be delivered on the 21st, yesterday and will let us know what time. The driver is named Dimytro.
I reach out around 12:30 to try to get a time frame, I hear back via text at 1pm.
"Car will get delivered between 3-5pm, sorry, I lost your number."
SO leaving work early, family member gets home at 2:15, and at 4:55 I text again "almost her?", get a text back "Sorry, traffic is bad, I'm 90 minutes away"
OK, all things considering, no big deal, family member leaves to run a few errands, and at 5:10 I get a text "Be there in 20 minutes, can't deliver car, will pin you" (word for word)
Family member runs errands, gets home at 5:45 and moments later I get a Google Map pin drop and a text "I am here"
OK, the pin is for a 4 lane road 1/2 mile from the house, family member walks to the location sent. makes sense not driving a 9 car carrier big rig into a residential community.
Family member calls me and tells me"I am right at the in drop, I can see the road for a mile in each direction, no car, no truck, nothing" She walks back home.
5 minutes later I get a text "I am here now" and another pin drop, about 250 ft from the first
Family member walks back and there is the truck, car being unloaded and she goes over the rather detailed inspection sheet, driver hands her the keys and we're done
Turns out not so much a couple of idiots, but a two driver team, one man from Ukraine, been in the USA 6 months, does not speak English, and another driver from Venezuela and been in the USA for 2 months, also speaks minimal English. The two have a hard time communicating, she says they were using some sort of sign language and both seems to know the car shipping business pretty well.
Also the truck was a short haul big rig, certainly not the truck that made the cross country trip
DONE
"he is going to start WW3!!!!"
