Holy cow, you probably already knew about this person, but...

... I didn't. Regina Spektor. My mom (of all people) just clued me in to her. (Don't ask me how my mom knew about her.) In case some of you out there, like me, have apparently been living under a rock for the last few years, you might want to check her out. Here's a video:

... all I can say is, "wow." I also see she has quite a few offerings on iTMS.

Glanced at some of her videos just now. She's got a classic prettiness about her. And she has this way of opening her mouth wide that makes me think ... oh sorry, I need to get back to work now.

Yeah, she is cute too. (At least, I think she's cute.) Check out this one: [phobos.apple.com]

Also check out this live version of Fidelity-- dang, she is cute!: [www.youtube.com]

She sounds exactly like another current or recently current pop sensation.

Can't remember her name. They come & go so quickly these days.

I think she sounds like Nellie McKay.

I heard Regina Spektor on NPR a couple weeks ago. It's better when there's video.

The song bored me. She is appealing to the eye, though.

Kinda has a horse-face (not in a bad way) like that Sandra Oh from "Gray's Anatomy" and "Sideways."

I think she and Feist sound awfully similar, with RS having a more precise voice.

All those young Russian women are pretty. Regina definitely falls into that category!

I had never heard her before, thanks for bringing her to our attention PeterB. I'm enjoying her earlier stuff than her most recently "produced for pop-radio" Begin to Hope. It's still good, but her raw style really works from her first three albums, two of which are available on iTunes 11:11 and Soviet Kitsch.
