I also skipped Ventura based on what I heard here. So I recently just jumped right to Sonoma and found it's really okay. There's some differences in how preferences are displayed. Other than that there's some nice features built in. I especially like having some widgets.
I have completely ignored Stage Manager in the same way I ignored Spaces before that. I dont need that much complexity in my life.

yeah, I've been to Napa Valley right before Covid, amazing how you can leave SF at 64F and end up an hour away at 95F and Sunny
I should probably go back and visit Sonoma next time.
