Unless you're voting socialist, not in this case. Both parties are happily the puppets of the Medical-Industrial and Prison Industrial Complexes.

“Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented." - Eli Weisel

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." - Theodore Roosevelt (1918)

"I don’t want to see religious bigotry in any form. It would disturb me if there was a wedding between the religious fundamentalists and the political right. The hard right has no interest in religion except to manipulate it." - Billy Graham 1981

"Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise" - Barry Goldwater

I will assume this is why so many hospitals have nurses going on strike over low staffing levels.

Understaffing and underpaying health care workers both have consequences. My dad was on the board of the local, small-town non-profit nursing home, and learned a lot about how some nursing homes operate. This was 25+ years ago. He said that the for-profit homes were often worse, because one of the only ways they could cut costs was to understaff.

Small or individual doctor practices are being bought up by these conglomerates and private equity firms. Urgent Care centers have replaced banks as businesses that pop up on every corner. In my town at a main crossroad we now have 4 Urgent Care centers, two right across the street from each other. A fifth is about a two minute drive down the road.

Nursing home laws were changed in the 90s so that most local, small homes were sold or decommissioned. The new regs favored the large corporations. However, that and medical care in hospitals is very different.

The perfume that the air would bring
To the indolent town
Where the barkers call the moon down

My non-profit health network, which provides the insurance and owns the providers, needs the biggest skyscraper in town for their vertical monopoly. They have had a long-standing feud with the #2 company, the "competition" that moderates the market, such that you'll get crushed by the bills if you dare go "out of network."
