All I wanted was a PC system optimizer and from what I read on the web their
System Mechanic" software was the "perfect" choice
PLUS they had a great sale. However, after purchasing a license from their site, the next screen said I had to call them to activate it. Along with the deal was their 24/7 live tech support (which I really don't but it was free - at least for the first 30 days) ] and they said I could cancel it before the trial was up.
After speaking with them on the phone they
very strongly tried to convince me
NOT to cancel the tech support (
which renews at $19.95/mo) and said to
"try it out and if you don't want it you can cancel it." Then they scheduled me to get a call from said
"Tech Support" to "speed up my PC",
but that they needed to initiate remote control of my computer to do so.
I can sometimes be naive, but in my gut, I know this
could be dangerous. So, I haven't called them back and am about ready to uninstall their software. Also, when I got a voicemail from their tech people he was reading a script off of his computer screen, and - I don't mean to be racist - but I could barely understand him as well.
So, is this a scam? Any advice? Words of wisdom?
