It is impressive - if all those technologies work as advertised in the outside world being used by nimrods. But it is a testbed not a truck. The first rule of being a truck is being utilitarian. The CT truck doesn't really fit that - the shape makes it difficult to load or retrieve things, it is too short to handle full length items (something to many double cabs already have screwed up). Pickup truck design hasn't changed in 70+ years for a simple reason - it works.

Keep in mind something like 90% of pick up trucks sold today have a short bed. This is what the majority of buyers want, and so that’s what Tesla is aiming for.

"Left the Rivian for dead" - Beat it by 0.7 seconds? Left for dead?

"We need more horsepower!" - then brings out a 1000 HP Hummer...THAT WEIGHS OVER A TON MORE!

Good god. Yes, it's fast.

Having owned three EVs with 3.x sec 0-60 times, I can tell you that you get jaded to that kind of speed.

The CT is a fun concept, and I'm glad they actually made it.

Whether you like the looks or not, it's certainly distinctive.

I personally do not find the Rivian interesting at all - just another pickup truck silhouette, for example.

Tesla will be able to sell the first few hundred thousand for sure. Will this be a super winner for them? I doubt it. That would be their true affordable sedan (rumored to be in design at Giga Berlin).

When you get that low, .7 is quite a bit. It's also faster than already way fast enough. That kind of speed gets you in trouble in a hurry.

Yep. I'm somebody who wants a long bed because we carry 10' kayaks and they just drop in and lean against the tailgate without any sort of tie down with the length of a long bed. I don't care at all about a full back seat. I was planning on a '24 Ranger but they only do the 4 door version and don't have a long bed option. So, I'll look at the new Tacoma with an access cab. Or maybe wait and see if the '25 Ranger has an access cab with a 6' bed. I'm clearly not Ford's target market.

It also eats tires even if they don’t spin much at launch.

My cousin has a full-size quad cab Dodge with a long bed to haul his motorcycle in. I love driving that beast.

It does feel like an infomercial.

While it was informative and somewhat interesting, it screamed infomercial to me.

That's one ugly truck.

Watching that infomercial really brought that home.

It reminded be of a post-apocalyptic (that was said in the infomercial but I've said as much before) Pontiac Aztek.

These days there are a lot of vehicles sort of similar to the Aztek, but no one will ever mistake the CT for anything else.

I don't say that like it's a good thing.

That was a very fun review to watch. However, it was totally an informercial that made a lot of hay about relatively unimportant things (like 48v electrical systems) and zero to 60 times..

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan
