Back in the first decade of this century, there was talk of a CGI remake of Yellow Submarine movie. I think we dodged a bullet. Here is some concept art pics and video.

Interesting. Despite being a big Beatles fan, I don't think I ever saw YS, nor Magical Mystery Tour. Though I will admit to breaking out A Hard Days Night and Help every once in a while.

I like Yellow Submarine but the story and art are absolutely a product of its time and it has no value in being remade.

It's a fun film! Definitely worth a peep.

I saw the premiere when it came out in the movie theater near Radio City on 50 St in NYC. I remember the fumes from the amount of pot being smoked in the theater gave us a contact high.

I believe "Trippy" was the word.

I would say they made a good - possibly great in its uniqueness for it’s time - movie up to “All you need is Love”.

After that, they had more songs they wanted to squeeze in, and from then on, it’s kinda horrible and endless. At the end, the non-animated Beatles come on and admit they don’t know how to end the movie.

I reallly enjoy the first part tho.

PS- interesting factoid: the Beatles didn’t voice their own animated characters. Why, I have no idea.

I'm pretty sure the Beatles-as-a-brand were contractually obliged to produce one more movie, and this was their way to produce it without having to be involved.

Don’t waste your time on Magical Mystery Tour.

Don’t waste your time on Magical Mystery Tour.

My sense is that that was one of those great ideas by McCartney, like renting out the big space in Tottenham studios so we could watch the four Beatles create waste time, argue and piss each other off. Or like Give My Regards to Broad Street.

Never heard of that one? Consider yourself lucky.
