Has anyone tried Lume or Mando?

These are two new-approach deodorants (marketed to women + men, respectively) that apparently include mandelic acid, which is theoretically supposed to (enzymatically?) block bacteria from converting sweat into stinkier compounds. Apparently (like standard deodorants/antiperspirants) you can get it in a variety of scents or scent free. And they encourage you to put it on your privates (although amusingly note that while it’s not toxic, it wouldn’t taste very good, so…)

This biochemical approach is intellectually appealing to me, but the stuff is expensive and reviews are wildly mixed.

Anybody have experience with it?

I got the starter package of Lume. It does stop odors but not for 72 hours more like 48. Plus it’s not antiperspirant so you will still sweat. So I use it in the wintertime but don’t plan to use it when it warms up.

Forget about whether it works, just enjoy the commercial: [www.youtube.com]

My wife swears by it for odor control (anywhere you have odor, such as the feet). She’s been using it for 2 years and wouldn’t be without it. She also seconds what Lizabeth said - still need antiperspirant for under the arms to go with it.

Thx all - I might try it.

I’m retired now, and I don’t care so much about whether I sweat or not - but I would like to avoid the smell.

Yeeeeah, 48hrs is more than enough protection for me, unless maybe I was stuck in an ATM vestibule with Jill Goodacre.
