As A Truck owner, my biggest rant......

Let me say that until long past middle age, I hated trucks. Always had an El Camino so I was in a gray area. Another post' eh.

As a truck owner of a nice plushy 1500, I use it as a truck as well. My RANT is Trailers! Empty trucks pulling TRAILORS. Empty trucks pulling EMPTY TRAILORS.

Better now.

I'm with ya bro.

When I see those trucks leaving the county landfill pulling empty dump trailers, I shake my fist.

And when I drive to the feed store with my empty trailer to pick up a couple of tons of grain for my livestock, I am seething inside.

My truck can tow about 8 times the weight that it’s rated to carry in the bed.

Here is some info that might make you feel better. Unless you have a load to go both ways half the time the trailer will be empty. Secondly, I can pull 10000 lbs of weight in a trailer. That is a 3-4klbs of trailer with 6-7k lbs of crap on/in it. I can only put 2100lbs of weight in my bed. Therefore I absolutely might have a full trailer and an empty bed due to weights issues.

Isn't the 2100 lbs total payload weight? This would be reduced by occupants and anything else in the truck.

But each trailer is missing a receiver. How do I connect them to each other after they're loaded? smiley-laughing001

Correct. Some trucks give a number for max weight in the bed if their beds cannot carry as much as the payload.

Are you assuming they don't want to get the bed scratched so they pull a trailer?

Does it make better sense to split a load between bed and trailer if the load is too much for the bed but not for the trailer?

Is it easier to load a trailer than a truck bed?
