eSATA isn't that fast.

eSATA is 150 MB/sec or 300 MB/sec
FW800 is 800 Mb/sec or 100 MB/sec

Besides, these are bus speed theoretical maximums. You'll probably never achieve that speed in real world testing.
Macworld sucks.

Theoretical or not, my video guy swears by the esata drives. esata was the only connection that could maintain the frame rates he needed while working from an external drive. Works well with the new macbook pro during road shoots.

eSATA has a much higher theoretical speed. Neither comes within about 85% of the theoretical maximum but lots of drives have been bumping up against FW800 limits (about 76 MB/sec for a single drive).

Using multiplexing bridges, multiple SATA drives can be set up as a very fast RAID and does not show the inconsistencies that FW800 does.

It's both, there is a 150 MB/sec spec and a 300 MB/sec spec. Check your drives and interfaces.

Yeah, the article is wrong. How it's wrong, I'm not sure, but one way or another it's wrong.

So if they thought the enclosure was only SATA (and not SATAII) then they thought it was 1.5Gbit... but that's not 1,500MB/s.
