Strawberry Consumption Reduces Risk of Dementia, New Study Suggests

Late-life dementia is a growing public health concern lacking effective treatment. Neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease develop over a preclinical period of many years beginning in midlife. The prevalence of insulin resistance, a prominent risk factor for late-life dementia, also accelerates in middle-age. Consumption of berry fruits, including strawberries, has been shown to influence metabolism as well as cognitive performance suggesting potential to mitigate risk for dementia.

I saw (said) the same claim recently about my fave Knappogue 16 twin.

I prefer blueberries. More antioxidants. Plus, higher carbon footprint. We need to support OPEC in their time of need.

Strawberries are delicious and healthy, enjoy! Loaded with vitamin c.

There seems to be a media wave of "this or that" food or activity reduces risk of dementia.

My Mom has always been a slim, healthy eater, very active and social, musician, professional, didn’t smoke, ..

And she has dementia. There are no silver bullets. A lot of the Wellness Industrial Complex is a scam.

Live well, use common sense and enjoy your life.

We talking about fresh, local strawberries in season, or the ones we get the rest of the year, apple-sized with all the flavor of a raw potato?

I like strawberries, never liked blueberries, and dislike blueberry flavored pies, pastry etc.

I know where to get strawberries... But I can't find any Knappogue anything anywhere near me in any of my liquor stores...

yea, the 1st time I found it I had a touring friend bring it back from Ireland. Back then Irish whiskey in the US consisted of Bushmills and Jameson. They're OK, but K 16 twin is way more delicious to me.
I just finished it the other day.

It is easier to find in these parts (NYC) than it was a decade ago.
As are some other obscure Irish brands.

But I'm gonna go to NJ to import for my liquor cabinet soon.
My various main squeezes (Knappogue, El Tesoro Reposado, Four Roses Small, Angels Envy, blah, blah, blah) are ~$15 cheaper each and I can get Icelandic Porter there too.
