That's $62 shipped for a USED one.

Interestingly, when I needed a replacement of my magsafe, Apple said they would charge me $72 if the faulty one weren't returned.

Check to see if any of the closing CompUSA's are nearby. They have had some new ones (both 60 and 85 watt) for 30% off.

Keep an eye out on UK eBay, I picked up one there for £27 shipped. That's about $54. FWIW the vendor was surplex.co.uk.

no CompUSA closer than an hour's drive, and I find the staff to be ignorant & less than helpful.

After looking at power adapters for other computers, I'm not seeing where you think they're overpriced.

They contain a unique (and patented) innovation in the marketplace. They are a BIT more expensive than current-model laptop power supplies, but not by a huge amount.

You're an apple user, surely you've gotten used to paying a bit more for real quality BY NOW.

I love the Magsafe, but the cable needs better strain relief.

Mine failed very quickly.


I had to buy one because it took ages to get a warranty one.
I suppose everyone was ordering a replacement.

I've added some heat-shrink to the cable and so far all is good.
