I had an interesting user error today

I have a Brother label maker, had it for years, use it very infrequently, and it uses 6 AA batteries.

Last week I got it out to use and turned it on and the display showed "L POWER". I only had 4 AA batteries "in stock" so I put them on my shopping list.

Today I got it out again, still said "L POWER" so I opened the new package of AA batteries I bought at Costco and replaced all 6 batteries.

Turned it on and it displayed "L POWER" again.

After some head scratching, I realized that the label maker remembers text for the last label entered and displays the text at the end of the message.

The last time I was using it I was labeling some breaker panels and the main breaker had a label "ALL POWER". I was just seeing the the end of that saved text. Put the old batteries back in, and the new batteries back in their package.

Reminds me of when I was a kid looking through the TV Guide and asking my mother what the show called To Be Announced was and why it was on all the time and on so many channels.

You’re getting old or you would have caught the error immediately.

Fair warning: those Duracell leak. Yes, Duracell makes the Kirkland batteries. Or maybe you bought real Duracell. same thing. They leak.

I changed to Rayovac and Panasonics. No leaks so far. I also use Energizer Lithium in devices with very low drain where batteries last many many years (remotes). In devices with high drain and frequent use, if I cannot use NiMH, then I use Rayovacs and Panasonics.
