Starliner has only received a successful test once. I wish the crew the best of luck, but they are braver than me, and I used to cave dive.

Given the history of this craft and the project in general, these folks have massive titanium cojones. You couldn't pay me enough to ride in that thing. The rocket is reliable, but that capsule would scare the crap out of me.

I would fly on SpaceX any day but not on Starliner. Inadequate testing and the testing they HAVE done seems to indicate it is unsafe.

I wonder if they're taking their own separate oxygen supplies and possibly even a couple MMUs for payload on the Starliner... just in case.

Edit: NVM, it looks like the MMU was retired in favor of SAFER which is emergency only - totally apropos given the Starliner's already spotty record.

It was built by Boeing, so at least we know the hatch can be blown off.

Yep, the crew demanded to be let out.

‘demand’ is such a strong word, was there some sort of impending issue?

"But trouble with a valve in the rocket's upper stage forced mission managers to order a scrub just two hours before takeoff."

Today's astronauts! They'll scrub at the drop of a helmet!

If they're having more valve problems with Starliner, that's not a good sign for the vehicle.

I was surprised when they had the issues for the second test launch because they hadn't anticipated the corrosiveness of the sea salted air at Cape Canaveral (and it begs the question why do we do rocket launches there and not Arizona?

If it's the upper stage, this sounds like an Atlas V problem rather than a Starliner poblem.

Because if something goes badly wrong, you’re dropping rocket parts into the ocean instead of on Phoenix or Tucson.
