Terriers are famously aggressive, driven to kill animals like rats and other vermin, which they'll furiously dig to catch. Although many of the most popular American Kennel Club dog breeds no longer work for a living, they still show signs of these ingrained behaviors.

You misunderstood; that was a gift. From muttsie to dad and mom, with love. I seriously doubt the dog killed it. It was probably already dead, and he just brought it to you so you could see his prize. Or maybe he didn't want it in his yard and wanted to make sure you put it in the garbage, where it belonged.

Anyone who has or is considering a dog as a pet, should view PBS's Dogs That Changed The World [www.pbs.org]
The chapters 'Wolf To Dog' {Intro} and 'Hard-wired Behaviors' are especially informative.
