I buy from AMZ a lot more than I care to admit, pickup up 5sets of different USB -C to Lightning cables today.

Looking for some binoculars, not that AMZ is my first stop when contemplating pricier kit, I do sift through the reviews, starting with the one-star ratings.

WTF?

One-star rating comprise 10% of the ratings for a particular set of binocs.

But not one freakin' review.

This is because to help sells items no matter what, leave a star, no qualification needed.

This is on top of the facts that AMZ allows idiots to leave reviews, so many reviews are bogus, and AMZ often mixes item reviews for products that are what you're looking at.

As for the latter, AMZ often doesn't label the review with a product name, so it's possible one has no clue if the review is for the product one is contemplating.

Nothing to add about Amazon, but if you are looking for a good set of binoculars nothing beats Vortex. They are a local family/employee owned small town Wisconsin company. Unconditional lifetime warranty on their gear. Cannot recommend them enough.

I have two Vortex. My main birding bins (10x42) and a smaller pair that fits in my coat pocket in the wintertime (8x28), often used as "opera glasses." Had great experience sending them in when one of the lenses went out of whack- they even payed for shipping both ways.

I recently got a pair of Athlon Midas 8x42 HDs on sale, that seem pretty good.

For no reason in particular I'm wanting some 7x50s (marine glass), though I think that size is a little overrated for older folks.

But I'm a traditionalist.

Nary a pair at Vortex (8x42 is the new 7x50?) but the 8x28/8x32 binocs look interesting.
