iMac G5 17" 1.8 or PM single G5 1.8 ?

I am torn between these two options on the refurb page(s)

$849 iMac (May 2005 rev)
$1099 PM

I am leaning towards the iMac, but have never had a PM G5.

Just for home, personal, gaming, etc.

Does anyone here do any gaming with the Mac Minis? Can they even do anything with that ATi 9200?

If you are gonna get a tower, get a Dualie. The singles are not worth it.
So, the iMac is it.
Consoles for games, Computers for creation.

the only reason to get the tower would be >2GB ram and PCI slots.

Seriously, what are you ging to do with the machine? "IF" you are just going to surf then I would just buy the iMac and get another gig of memory.

Oh, and I don't see that G5 on their site... was it a dually?

I used to say, go with a tower. You can upgrade the video card; possibly upgrade the processor and upgrade the RAM pretty much insuring that you will be able to run the latest software titles for years to come. That thinking served me well with my Sawtooth.

If you are someone who buys a computer every couple of years; you won't go wrong with the iMac.

The tower gets you one more slot for a HD, more ram slots and doubles as a cheese grater.

I just got the $849 G5 iMac. Added 1GB RAM ($70) to it last night and it blows my G4 eMac away. Looks a lot easier to work on too. Especially without that high voltage CRT to deal with ;^o

btw-Except for the plain brown box, my refurb appears to be brand new.

We bought that $849 iMac the day that they announced the iSight iMac models. It's great and my wife loves it. Occasionally she lets me use it too.
