Can QS G4 use 2 X 1GB or 1GB + 2 X512MB DIMMS to max RAM?

Now that the MDD has been taken care of [it takes 1GB DIMMS!], our attentions have turned to the 800MHz QS duallie that has mostly just been used for editing scanned images and documents for pdf'ing, where 1.5GB total RAM is not a problem running Panther. We'd like to give it to Baby Buzz, and put Tiger on it, and if possible, bump it up to the G4's 2GB max RAM limit..., but w/ only three slots, it's gonna take at least one 1GB stick to accomplish; if in fact it can be done... the dilemma this time, is no spare 1GB PC133 DIMMS laying around to try it with, and no sense dropping $100 if it's not going to work. Baby Buzz's (R.I.P.) old eMac had 2GB RAM, so I don't want to short change him in the RAM dept if it's avoidable. Has anyone confirmed the answer in the QS series? Thanks,

Buzz

1GB PC133 DIMMs are rarer than hen's teeth AFAIK. Where can you get one for $100?

not quite that rare, but you're right, $150 & + is more realistic... though at $100 it would be a hen's tooth :-)

but will it float?

Hm? You put 1GB DIMMs in a MDD? And it saw them?

Does it see more than 2GB?

the G4 has a 2GB max RAM addressability limitation, though as soon as it cools off in L.A. I'll try another stick to see if it "sees" the added RAM in the MDD... even if it sees it, since it can't address it, I can't "see" what good it would do, but it would interesting to find out... such as maybe one of the 1GB's would be reduced to being seen as 512MB...

but, I'd really like to know if the QS can "see" and address the expensive 1GB sticks before buying one, while still adhering to the G4's max 2GB addressing limitation w/ its three slots.
