"The Emperor's New Clothes".
The folks on the CanonRumors forums believe Canon's 40% market share--however that is measured--means Canon doesn't have any problems. How could Canon be wrong if it is still the most dominant brand in the market?
Canon has another problem. I personally prefer Canon cameras--enough to pre-order the R5 MII--but I primarily shoot Nikon for its lens offerings for wildlife shooting. the 400mm f/4.5, 600mm pf, and 800mm pf are incredibly flexible tools for travel and handheld shooting--and there are the exotic primes with built-in TCs, which are unequaled. Canon offers nothing to compete against these lenses instead targeting offering budget f/11 lenses and the incredibly dark 200-800mm f/6.3-f/9 zoom. Don't try shooting any of these lenses in low light!
Needless to say, I've cancelled my R5MII preorder. I'd love to use it for wildlife, but Canon doesn't offer a lens on par with any of Nikon's offerings. I may need to reconsider the Z8, which I considered too large to serve as my travel camera.
