I have one that needs to new batteries. I should really make that happen.

Those prices look about right, but at this point I would go with Lithium models.

That must have been a while ago. New 1500VA UPS units have been over $200 for at least 5-6 years at full price. Amazon and other sellers often have specials where they go for less, but not less than the $130 refurb.

Is UPS still even a thing? Doesn't seem to make any diff for me if I have it or not.

Never does until the power goes out.

I just replaced the battery in an old APC that keeps the FIOS connection and the router up. So, yeah, they’re still a thing.

UPSs never stopped being a thing. They are a critical component and everyone should have one or more of them in place in their household. Protect computers. Protect networking equipment. Security systems and cams. Even protect basic lighting. I have several in place for all of the above and more.

You've been lucky.

A sudden power loss can damage most any electronic gear, though it may not.

Outages have been more frequent for me over the last couple of years, mainly from drivers taking out power poles.

I've been fortunate that only an Echo Show was damaged, leaving a video artifact that doesn't motivate me to replace it.

I've got a lot of power storage kit and would need a couple of UPSs to keep them and my Macs safe.

For the moment, I just have one for my modem and router.

Unfortunately, its battery is circling the drain and it's 'non-replaceable'.

I haven't found a standalone replacement, so there may not be one.

That is probably how the UPS manufacturer designates the battery, but unless they used a totally non-standard battery you can find a replacement SLA for it. Main problem will be how they closed up the case of the UPS - screws, clips, or glue.

I haven't found a standalone replacement, so there may not be one.
