How to put my wife's name on car title?

Last Friday night I bought a car from a dealership and I only provided my drivers license for the paperwork. It turns out my wife would like to have her name on the title as well. How do I go about doing that? Thank and if it makes a difference I'm in Washington State.

Ukulele music I couldn't find anywhere else.

Friday night? See if the dealer still has the paperwork. If not, wait until you receive the title, then head over to the DMV with your wife. $30 in my state to add her. I also added her to a deed for less than a hundred dollars, not that it’s relevant to your question.

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.

In WA state, you'll need to fill out a new title application with your wife's info and submit it to the DMV. You may need to provide ID and proof of marriage. The fee is around $30-$40. You can check with the WA DMV for specific requirements and forms needed.

Use the "OR" and not "AND" and either one of you in California can sign it away, when selling or transferring.

Early in our marriage my wife wanted us to use "and" when we bought our first new vehicle. Years later, after several more vehicles she asked me why she had to go to the dealership and sit around for a long time while paperwork and so on was done. I told her it was because she wanted "and" on the title. She said she was over that and to please title it in some other way so she never had to go to a dealership again. So, now it's "or" on the titles. The last vehicle we bought she was at an event, I drove the new car over for her to look at it. She said it was fine and I drove back to the dealership and finished the trade-in deal and then drove back in the new car to pick her up. She liked that!

My experience in CA during a purchase wasn't like that, if my wife's name was to appear on the title in either form (AND or OR), she needed to be there, provide her driver's license an sign the paperwork. I think the difference is only on the selling end, just one needs to sign to sell it. And we always do "OR" for that reason.

Around these parts, AAA (if you're a member) will handle the paperwork

That only applies in certain states. Wisconsin treats them both the same and you need both parties listed no matter what.
