Wife wants a Red Pearl Rav4, XLE or Hybrid, used or new....

I search google and I can get RAV4 Red, exactly what I want.... a price is there, how do I research which year and model to stay away from, or stay away from add ons that I don't need. I guess the deal is to get the final price before interning the F and I dept. And if Apple stock hits a certain #, we should be able to pay cash, but that will be kept quiet, during negotiations.

Just need to get crap out of the garage so wife can park car in the garage... so to keep this cars clear coat and paint in good shape..

You can get both XLE and hybrid. XLE is the trim level (top of the line) and doesn't really have anything to do with whether it's a hybrid or not.

You can check all the car sites to get reviews, but I don't think there's any "years to avoid" at least on 2016 or newer.

Except all of the hybrid models I see are XLE. Does someone know if stepping up to an XLE meant that the hybrid options were less expensive? Sort of like a tech package?

At least for 2024, there seem to be a lot of trim levels above XLE:
LE - $29k
XLE - $30k
XLE Premium - $33k
Adventure - $35k
Limited - $37k
TRD Off-Road - $38k

Hybrid LE - $32k
Hybrid XLE - $33k
Hybrid SE - $34k
Hybrid Woodland Edition - $35k
Hybrid XLE Premium - $36k
Hybrid XSE - $37k
Hybrid Limited - $40k

You want to find a Rav4 owners group / forum.

Thanks. Just going off of my memory of traditional Toyota trim levels. I do have to say that the SE costing more than an XLE doesn't make sense to me, but maybe I'm confusing Toyota with other brands' trim levels.

That color is uncommon - prepared to spend more $. When Toyota started making the Rav4 Hybrid in 2016, the only trim levels offered were XLE (medium trim) and Limited (highest trim level).

SE is the “sports” edition, and often more expensive.

Edmunds used to have good forums for car complaints - not sure it’s still a good source. I would look at Toyota forums…

You can also look at NHTSA to see year/make/model complaints.

Get the PHEV so Toyoda and his battery hate can eat crow.

Last time I checked, Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Prime was an 11K extra, and payback was around 12 years. Not a good deal IMHO

Yeah but can get someone you don’t know and who couldn’t care less about what you buy to eat crow. Isn’t that more important?

The resale in 12 years will pay back the $11k.

you absolutely want the hybrid...people complain about how the non-hybrid shifts.

but I don't think the plug-in is worth paying $10k extra, especially given how hard they are to find

Yes, apparently nobody wants them so Toyoda decided he wouldn’t waste time, effort and money making enough to meet demand.
