does STAPLES still take old ink cartridges and give you a $3 coupon?

I know they took old cartridges about a year ago, but now I looked at their web site and I could not find anything about this. If Staples does not take them, does anyone else (like Office Depot) offer a similar deal?

Also, what is the limit per day or per purchase? can I drop off 3 empty carts and pick up a $9 item instead?

OK, I searched some more and it looks like the program now is severely limited:

"We offer a $3 coupon toward a future purchase of ink or toner when HP, Lexmark™ or Dell cartridges are recycled."

-they take only certain brands, non Canon, not generic
-the coupons can be used towards future purchases if ink or toner, I don't think you can buy anything else with these coupons.

Bummer, I had about 15 or so I wanted to cash in.

I used to drop off empty toners at Office Depot in exchange for a ream of paper. I don't know if they still have the same offer.

SoCal for now.

They've all gotten very particular about what they take. I brought in a handful of Brother carts some time ago to Staples and they told me I would get no discount/paper for them. When I said I just wanted to recycle them, then, they asked me to just throw them in the trash instead.

Office Depot still offers a ream of paper with a cartridge, but you have to make a $3 minimum purchase at the same time.

If you just want to recycle Brother toner/drums, you can print out these prepaid mailing labels and ship them back to Brother.

GGD,

Yes, I do that with the toner ones. But thanks for pointing that out to all.

My store has it going on now. 10 a day. ($30)

As far as I know, OfficeMax still gives $3 for any inkjet cartridge.

As I always say, "that's just my opinion, I could be wrong."

Youz all must not shop at Staples very often. The current policy ($3 for HP, Lex, and Dell only) is at least a year and a half old. It was fun getting $3 for recycling generics that only cost a buck or two while it lasted. This combined with the new rewards program (which is almost worthless) has diminished things quite a bit, but Staples is still the best office store to find bargains if you have coupons. I still can find good deals there to make money after rebates.

IT started at the end of August 2006. Some stores continued taking Epson ink through mid-September.
