wife plays games on her iPhone and if she puts the phone down to do something else, the screen stays open, and then she complains the battery life sucks.

My iPhone locks automatically after some time (30 s) every time it is idle. It will of course stay open if I play a video for example.

I looked at the settings on her iPhone and it should lock after 30 s, but it doesn't seem to work.

is there another setting that I am missing?

There could be a setting in the game (Ha!) or she needs to press the lock screen button as she is putting it down.
