WTF is beeping on my computer?????

I've quit all apps. And something is Booping. Constantly. Doesn't seem to be any consistency. It sounds like the "I just plugged the power cable in" sound. I usually sit here and work with my laptop plugged in. So I don't know why it would think I just plugged it in.

However, since I said that, I just unplugged my laptop, and the noise stopped. So it's like my computer is constantly being unplugged and plugged in, which I don't understand. Bad cable? Bad charger? The battery doesn't indicate its being unplugged or losing power.

Bad charger connection, or fluctuating household current?

you see that ET in your sig? There's your problem.

first, try a Safe Boot.
then try a pRAM zap and/or SMC reset, depending on the vintage of MacBook.
If it's still there, try Onyx for your particular OS

Bad cable? Bad charger?

Yup, probably. Are you using a non-Apple cable and/or charger? I had a third party charger that didn't know what to do when the laptop was fully charged and would constantly go through the plugged/unplugged routine and beeping. So that one got returned (I've used plenty of third party USB-C chargers that are just fine, but that one/brand was a dud).

Is the laptop plugged into a UPS, whose battery needs to be replaced?

For Macs that charge via USB-C (Or MagSafe 3), often that means that the USB-C cable is not tightly engaged in the side of the computer or in the power-brick.

Completely unplug both ends of the charge cable.

When you plug in the USB-C end(s) of the cable, do so with a firm push so that you can hear it "click" when it's seated.

Maybe someone put an old USB annoy-a-tron on your machine.

So I got one of these so I could plug in my computer as well as my phone. To eliminate the multitude of charge bricks at my seat.

After I posted this last night, I unplugged my computer, and it stopped beeping, so I assume it's that. I plugged it back in this morning, and it beeped when I plugged it in, but it's silent now, presumably because it's charging.

Hopefully just a connection issue.... if not that, then hopefully failing cable... otherwise the power supply in that adapter is toast and isn't able to supply stable current at the level it's negotiating.

My family really has enjoyed Resident Alien... always liked that actor too in FireFly..... and not happy with ultimately did in movie.
