I struggle with this. It was going to take a perfect throw and, unfortunately, the outfielder through a perfect strike to homeplate, and it was still really close. A few inches either way, and Stanton would have been safe. That's why they get paid the big bucks!

Agree. The throw had to be letter perfect (which it was), catch had to be as well (which it was) and tag held on to. It was a bang bang play and any competent third base coach (competency is NOT a given with mostly idle 3rd base coaches - it's a spot a lot of asst coaches more or less retire to) would have made that same call.
