You might get a higher percentage discount on your insurance, with Lojack.
Call your agent.

IMHO

If a theif really wants to steal your car no alarm is going to stop them.

If you value your vehicle pony up for the Lojack.

There used to be a product made by Jacobs Electronics [www.jacobselectronics.com] (the exact name of which escapes me) that would allow someone to start and drive the vehicle for a set time frame, ie. 120 seconds and then it would kill the ignition.

Sadly it no longer appears to be offered now that Mr Gasket has gobbled up Jacobs. sad smiley

Wouldn't a Club be cheaper?
It, in many cases, keeps the car from being stolen in the first place.
I know it can be sawn apart or the steering wheel cut, but in a crowded parking lot, there will be other easier pickings.

MrBig,

I always wondered... What kind of condition is thhe car in by the time the police find it with Lojack? Seems to me that by the time the police find the car, it may already be dismantled or in such a condition that I'd not want it back. At least the alarm pager can inform the owner something is going on and he/she can investigate from a distance and call 911 if necessary. That way, at least the police have a fighting chance of getting the car before it's ruined.

that's pretty much how i feel, too. usually thieves will grab whatever they can that's valuable and then leave the car to see if it has lojack and if the cops show to retrieve it. but if one were to have notification of when it's stolen (esp for vehicles that are garaged at a distant location - my situation), at least one might be alerted. i agree that lojack is the only way to go to track it down, though. unless someone can use some other method i don't know about.
