Besides Harbourmaster and microchip13...

What condition was it in? I should have mine later this week. I hope I am as lucky as those two.

Well. Mine was in fairly lousy condition looks wise, but functionally it was OK.

I've since painted mine and am just finishing it up. I'll have pictures on of my completed 'Book within a few days.

Just because it has two clutches, shifts faster, uses a torque converter or has near-infinite gear ratios, requires less driver intervention and is more efficient doesn't make it better in my opinion.

I personally looked at these units. They certainly weren't like new - but they also were in what I'd consider to be 'fair' condition.

They were also sold, tested to note their exact issues - and our criteria for what made something bad was pretty strict as well.

At $39 for an iBook that is still functional, but with known bad parts - well - I think in all the cases, the sum of the parts is worth more than the whole we sold them for. smiling smiley

I am quite happy with my $105 one with a bad CD that actually works after a disk cleaner ran once. It's a used G3 has a few years worth of use so a few scratches don't bother me. Less than I thought would be on it. I bought it as a throw in bag and carry back and forth with little worries about the finish.

wrapped around once in a sheet of bubble wrap, the ibooks are helded tight with a owc sticker is how they came packed. the cases are a little dirty/scratchy but not that bad.

iBook #1 screen/cd drive worked right away only noticed the cd drive was loud.
iBook #2 screen was barely on, as i plugged it into a external monitor and rebooted the screen worked fine. the cd drive would not open at all it turns out the one of the metal rails the cd tray slides in/out on broke jamming the drive closed. i removed the broke end it hangs a little funny but pops into place when closed.

for $39 each they are well worth the chance. a battery or two and my nephew will have his first computer to call his own.
