Unlocking Keychain in Safari

Hmmm, just returned from a two-week trip to Korea (which was great).

The G5 iMac (running OSX 10.4.3) has been in use by my wife, who is set up as a separate user on the computer.

I can remember the password to be able to use the computer under my user name. Am having a problem with Safari 2.02.

Safari presents me with a screen titled "Unlock Keychain."

The contents of the screen read:

Please enter your keychain password.

Safari wants to use keychain "username".

Password: (space to type in password)

Have tried typing in the password for my username. That's not working. Don't remember creating a special password just for a keychain in Safari.

I can cancel the screen in Safari, by hitting "Cancel" several times. Can navigate the web in Safari, the "Unlock Keychain" screen reappears fairly often.

Any thoughts on how I can figure out what password Safari is looking for?

thanks, Todd's kimchee (uh, keyboard)

Launch "Keychain Access" and maybe you can figure it out from there.

i had a similar problem. mine started when i changed the password for one of the users. keychain kept asking for the original password rather than the new one. after deleting the file 'login.keychain' located in the 'keychains' folder in that users library. the next time safari asked for the password i was able to enter the new password and it has yet to asked for it again.

maybe this will work for you, too.
