Buying Contacts (lenses) Online

I've checked prices at VisonDirect and 1800contacts.

Is there any other online vendor that's reputable and cheap?

Yeah Papercup has got it right. Shipmycontacts sounds like a winner. Buying lenses at a store is going to cost you. I am also po'ed that I have to be forced to go see an optometrist every year. So I am going to load up. The lenses I have been using are good for 30 days and work fine. Why should I pay $100 for an examination I do not need.

My last "exam" was almost a year ago so this is a good reminder for me to really stock up and not be bothered. Thanks.

I used to buy mine from 1-800-Contacts but switched to VisionDirect after discovering they were cheaper by about $2 - $3 per box. At the time my prescription was Acuvue 2, now they're Acuvue Oasys. This is why yearly check ups are important. I could actually feel my eyesight worsening and my eyes were drying out more rapidly. My doctor upped my prescription and switched me to Oasys because they retain moisture better.

Anyway, there are a lot of coupons for VisionDirect for 10%, $5, $10, or 5% off your. Just do a Google search for "VisionDirect coupon".

If you have a Costco nearby check out their optical department. I just ordered a year's supply of toric lenses and they were cheaper than online by about $30. No sales tax, no shipping, and if there is a problem customer service is easier.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I let my membership expire this year so I can't get lenses there (without incurring a new membership fee).

Looking through the different web sites, I find that pricing on 4 boxes of my lenses is ranked in this order (including shipping and not including rebates as they all have the same rebates)...

Walmart.com: $162
1800contacts.com: $150
visiondirect.com: $140
shipmycontacts.com: $135

We have a winner!
