A sad tale- my PB died

I have an old 800Mhz G4 power book that seemed indestructible. It has been all over the world and has more dents than I have teeth. It has been from Antarctica to the equator many times and shows it. The super drive died a year ago. I had hoped to replace it with a new super portable 12" Mac Book pro.

It died peacefully at home last week but Apple has not yet built the super portable that I have been lusting for.

This is my first post form a new 15" Mac Book Pro. The LED backlight has a much brighter maximum than any thing else I have seen.

The local Apple store had every model except the high resolution 17" in stock. The manager told me that they don't get the display materials at the same time as the machines - to help keep things secret- so none were on display.

The 13" Mac Book would have been a smaller traveling package but the claimed battery life sucked me in.

I got the base model, max memory and a big drive are on order from OWC.

Sorry for your loss but...

LEADER!

I sit on a man’s back, choking him and making
him carry me, and yet assure myself and others
that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his
lot by all possible means — except by getting off
his back. - Leo Tolstoy, novelist and Philosopher

A new Santa Rosa MBP...

I fail to see any sadness in the tale.

You have my heartfelt condolences that your PiggyBank had to die so that you could get a new MacBook Pro...Leader!

Here's wishing that the new one turns out to be as sturdy as the old...

Like the loss of an old dog, I feel your pain.

In this case, though, you got a new much better dog!

That's it?

Um, did you notice anything else like, say, that it's a kajillion times faster than your old G4?

Not yet. I am still loading it up. I am doing a clean install. I do have backups but who knows what has crept in over the years. Lightroom is going in as I write this.
