It seems like a god idea to me, but I don't have a grill.

Grill pans are great and have been on the market for a long time (at least 5 years). I haven't seen one with steel mesh, but the idea is the same. Grilled vegetables are easy and tasty.

The long handle will prevent the lid of the grill from closing, so that can be a problem. I took the handle off the grill pan I have with a handle (I have various shapes at this point) so I could close the lid.

Isn't that just another name for a colander?

I have a square-ish one with sloped sides made by Coleman - no mesh though but a series of holes.

I have an el-cheapo I picked up for like $2 someplace. The handle sticks out the hole in the side of the grill that they usually leave for the optional rotisserie. Awesome for veggies.

What I really miss is a grill wok-ish thing- a square bent-up pan that had no handles, just a nice cooking surface for veggies and shrimps and little itty bitsies.

Ah- a nice Portabello.... hmmm.
